Public Art
Murals
Five large-scale public art projects have been completed by ARTree in Santa Clarita since 2010. All public art pieces are executed with the help of the community.
To read more about each, see our History page.
Volunteer Program
Community Involvement
Our volunteer program has grown to include over 50 people a semester! From community members wanting to give back, to high school students needing service hours, our volunteers assist in weekly classes and help out with events.
ARTree also partners with the City of Santa Clarita's Volunteer Engagement Program.
Scholarships
Art Supplies for Home Practice
ARTree recognizes that not everyone can attend an in-person art class or participate in a free event. To provide support for those who practice art at home, we offer 2 scholarships a year, providing new, high-quality art supplies to awardees.
Bob Hernandez Founders Scholarship for youth is awarded in the fall and Michael Powell Memorial Scholarship for adults is awarded every winter.
COMMUNITY ART PROJECT
Our latest community mural was completed on June 1st, 2024.
After a call out to save bottle caps, we collected over 8,000 of them to be repurposed for a landscape mural.
Members of the community were then invited to help construct the mural at the Old Town Newhall Library, where the finished piece hangs.
Ms Raux, ARTree Mixed Media Mastery teacher, headed up this project with assistance from Education Chair, Sheri Carlson.
