ARTree, a non-profit community arts center located in Newhall (Santa Clarita CA) seeks a dedicated volunteer to serve in the following roles on its Board of Directors. This is a non-paid leadership position with at least a one-year commitment, requiring once a month attendance at in-person board meetings and additional volunteering requests during events and/or classes.

PRESIDENT
•Presides over all ARTree Board Meetings, Annual Financial Review Meeting and Strategic Planning Meeting
•Conducts all meetings in compliance with meeting rules: Proper notice, a quorum, clear agendas with advance materials, documented minutes, and adherence to bylaws for decision-making, ensuring all actions align with the mission of the organization
•Directs meetings to include voting mandates for expenditures and program changes
• Assigns action items to maintain accountability
•Oversees and supports the work of other board members and committees
•Ensures the board understands and fulfills its legal, ethical and fiduciary responsibilities
•Assists in recruiting qualified new board member candidates
•Acts as spokesperson for the organization when necessary
•Helps build strong community relationships and engagement
•Time commitment of approximately 1-3 hrs per week
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Strong digital organizational skills
•Passion for ARTree's mission and commitment to the arts
•Ability to work collaboratively and contribute effectively in a board setting
•Experience on other boards, a plus
TREASURER
•Oversee financial management practices
•Work with the board to develop and monitor the annual budget
•Review and approve financial statements
•Present financial reports to the board
•Ensure compliance with IRS regulations for non-profits and grants
•File taxes, reporting grant statuses, and general banking responsibilities
•Time commitment of approximately 3-7 hrs per week depending on the time of year.

•Experience with budgeting and financial analysis preferred

MEMBER-AT-LARGE
•Assist in events and classes when possible
•Contribute ideas for organizational growth
•Participate in annual and strategic meetings
•Attend 1x month board meetings
•Willingness to take on administrative, research, materials prep or communication tasks
